With Schaller Security Locks, we developed and patented a completely new product in 1981, probably the most secure connection between guitar and strap.
In contrast to our regular S-Locks range, where the strap pin and fastening screw are made of steel in one piece, the S-Lock Classic is the perforated strap pin sleeve, which is fastened via a separate fastening wood screw (not included in scope of delivery).
Both versions offer Schaller's proven quality for securely fastening the strap to instruments such as guitars or basses.
The S-Locks Lock
By pulling the ball with locking pin away from the lock, you release the safety catch of the Schaller S-Locks attached to the belt as shown in the illustration. The belt lock is released and can be pulled off the side of the button (pin) attached to the instrument.

S-Lock Classics are easy to install using suitable wood screws (not included)Assembly of S-Lock Classic strap buttons
- If there is no hole drilled in the bodywood, choose a suitable drill diameter depending on the type of wood and the suitable wood screw (according to the screw thread inside diameter).
- If the hole is too large, make it smaller (e.g. with wood glue and a suitable wooden dowel) and drill again.
- If necessary, countersink separately in the area of the outer lacquer layer (around the drill hole) to prevent the lacquer from flaking off when the suitable wood screw is screwed in.
- The strap button should sit completely on the wood; if necessary, first flatten the wood.
- Carefully screw the strap button with felt washer and suitable fastening screw into the existing drill hole. If the strap button is too tight, unscrew it again and gradually drill out the hole in the wood.
- Tighten the strap pin "hand-tight" until it reaches the body of the instrument. Do not continue to use force. The wood may break, the varnish may flake off and the strap button may break off.
Please note:
» Please check the secure fit of the belt pin in the wood regularly and tighten the screw if necessary or reduce or close an expanded hole and re-drill it as described.
» Do not change the factory dimensions of the S-Locks Classic strap buttons (a change to the purchased item is not a material defect - see Schaller GTC).(Please use the configurator. You will then receive the desired product in that selected color.)
Any changes to the original product dimensions, e.g. widening of diameters by drilling, will inevitably result in damage to the component and thus the loss of the protective function of the S-Lock.

Installation of S-Lock Classic Buttons
S-Lock Classics are easy to install using appropriate wood screws (not included).
If there is no existing drill hole in the body, select the appropriate drill bit diameter based on the type of wood and the appropriate wood screw (matching the screw’s internal thread diameter).
If the hole is too large, reduce its size (e.g., with glue and a suitable wood dowel) and drill a new hole.
If necessary, countersink the area around the outer paint layer (around the drill hole) to prevent the paint from chipping when screwing in the appropriate wood screw.
The strap button should rest flat against the entire surface of the wood; if necessary, sand the wood flat first. Carefully and gently screw the strap button, along with the felt washer and the appropriate mounting screw, into the existing drill hole. If it feels too tight, unscrew it and gradually enlarge the drill hole in the wood.
Tighten the strap pin “hand-tight” until it reaches the instrument body. Do not continue tightening with force: The wood may split, the finish may chip, and the screw may break off.
Please note:
→ Please check regularly to ensure the strap pin is securely seated in the wood and, if necessary, retighten the screw or, as described, reduce the size of or close an enlarged hole and re-drill it.
→ Do not alter the factory dimensions of the S-Locks Classic strap pin sleeve on your own: Modifying the purchased item does not constitute a material defect—see Schaller’s General Terms and Conditions: Any changes to the original product dimensions, such as increasing the diameter by drilling, will inevitably damage the component and thereby compromise the protective function of the S-Locks.
