With Schaller Security Locks, we developed and patented a completely new product in 1981, probably the most secure connection between guitar and strap. In 2018, the next generation was introduced with the S-Locks.

How Schaller S-Locks work

By pulling the ball with locking pin away from the lock, you release the safety catch of the Schaller S-Locks attached to the belt as shown in the illustration. The belt lock is released and can be pulled off the side of the button (pin) attached to the instrument.

The S-Locks strap button

• new and unique one-piece construction, easy to install via 3 mm (1/8") Allen key
• special 3.5 mm wood thread in S-Lock size S for maximum grip. Optionally available in sizes M (4.0 mm) and L (4.5 mm). Please refer to the installation guide above.
• hardest steel for maximum wear resistance and safety
• including high-grade felt washers to protect your instrument
• The strap button on the S-Locks comes in one size (12 mm in diameter): its dimensions do not vary across the three sizes—S, M, and L.

The S-Locks improved lock

• extended thread length for holding straps of up to 6 mm thickness
• newly designed slanted locking bolt made of stainless steel for minimum wear and thus maximum safety
• new design pull-up ball for best haptics
• suitable for a standard hole in the belt of 10 mm
• Receptacle for Schaller strap buttons 12mm

The improved S-Locks-Wheel: featuring 3-stage safety concept

1. Lock-Wheel with special patent thread ensures a secure hold. It can be tightened safely by hand without tools.
2. The 2-hole mount (suitable for 2 mm Allen key or screwdriver) allows a firmer tightening torque of the Lock-Wheel with maximum hold.
   • Use the Allen key or a thin screwdriver to tighten the lock wheel completely before screwing in the micro screw to secure it.
   • This gives the lock a firm hold, the 3 conical pins on the inside of the lock penetrate the leather strap and prevent the lock from twisting.
   • Straps made of leather, imitation leather, fabric and other materials have the property that they adapt under pressure over time, which is why the lock wheel should be tightened regularly.
3. Undetachable hold due to grub screw with tapered cap and slot M2.5 x 5 mm made of stainless steel. Simply unscrew the set screw again to unscrew the Lock-Wheel; the thread remains functional and cuts itself "free" again through the Lock-Wheel.

Compatibility between Schaller old Security Locks and current S-Locks

a.) S-Locks are compatible with all existing Schaller Security Locks like this:

• strap button old SecLock + lock new S-Lock (without silent feature!)
• strap button new S-Lock + lock old SecLock only limited, we do not recommend it.

→ Please always use our new S-Lock lock with Lock-Wheel on your strap, then you will always be compatible with all strap buttons and at the same time you will always use all the advantages of our new Lock-Wheel.

→ Please always make sure that the lock is engaged in the strap button, the lock is attached to the belt in such a way that the strap button is secured in the U-shape of the lock and that the instrument does not rotate.
